Bardstown

After a nice breakfast at a pool hall cum diner in Harrodsburg, we set out to take an easy 50 mile ride to Bardstown. We stopped in Springfield for lunch, where someone anonymously donated us two slices of pie. It’s really fabulous to get delicious chocolate pie for free.

Bardstown is fantastic. First of all, they have beer here. The first thing we did upon arriving in town was to pick up a few cold ones.  We set up our tents in the My Old Kentucky State Park campground, where they have such luxuries as showers. I have come to adore the simple shower. It’s so deliciously refreshing.

We made a giant fruit salad in a plastic bag, and cooked hamburgers over a campfire.  It was an all-round good time.

There are quite a few distilleries in Bardstown, which is one of the reasons (others: ominous rain predictions; dire laundry needs) we decided to take a day off here.
