Virginia is a tad hilly. I thought I might be able to overcome the Tent Pole Situation by hauling ass an extra 40 or so miles to the largish town of Charlottesville. However, it was really hot. And really hilly. So, I stuck with my original plan of stopping in Mineral, VA.
As Judy, Julie and Susie promised, everyone in Mineral was super friendly and helpful. The Mineral Volunteer Fire Department, which runs the campground, not only let me sleep in the fire station banquet hall, they even offered me the use of the fire station shower. That was just great. Showers are pretty much the best thing ever.
I showered, got myself some smoked chicken, baked beans and corn bread from the BBQ place across the street, grabbed a beer from the gas station, and made a night of it.
